Wearing human lace wig has become a trend, especially the emergence of lace closure wig. For they are gorgeous, easy to install, style, and maintain. However, removing a lace wig is still pretty much a hurdle for most wig wearers. Many people are unable to remove their human hair wig without experiencing some pain on their scalp, damaging their baby hairs or tearing the lace of their human hair wig. Removing the wig properly is critical to having a long-lasting human hair wig.
This article will provide a step by step guide on how to remove your lace closure wig without causing harm to your hairline and the wig itself.
* Tools You Need:
l Washcloth / make up applicator / q-tip or a small soft brush.
l Lace wig remover liquid or alcohol-based adhesive remover liquid (You can use Isopropyl alcohol as an alternative)
l Human hair wig shampoo
l Human hair wig conditioner
l Olive oil
l Clean towel
l Bobby pins/Hair clips
Step 1
Comb your hair
According to the wig lengths, choose the right way to comb your wig.
If you are wearing a long human hair lace wig, pack your wig into a ponytail so you can clearly see your edges.
For short wigs, use bobby pins or clips to hold the sides of the wig up away from your face and secure it on top of your head.
Step 2
Use the remover liquid
Gently detach the wig by gently loosening each section. Take care not to pull too hard.
Leave the adhesive for two to three minutes so the lace seam can adequately absorb it or until you see the lace peeling off from the sides.
Re-apply the solvent until you feel the glue loosen its hold.
Step 3
Remove the wig
①Slowly peel off the lace from the edges by moving around the sides to release lace from the scalp. Apply more adhesive as you remove to avoid damaging areas with hardened glue.
②Tug gently at the wig taking small parts at a time to remove the human lace wig entirely from your head.
③Remove and dispose of your wig cap once you have successfully taken off the wig to reveal your hairline
Step 4
Clean your skin
You may soften the glue on your skin with olive oil, working it into any glue spots with your fingers. Once most of the glue is gone, you can wash your face with soap and water to remove any excess glue remaining.
Step 5
Wash and clean the wig
Gently agitate the wig in the sink with a mild shampoo followed by a light, oil free conditioner. The wig should be allowed to air dry until completely dry.
v Tip: After the wig is dry, if you spot some glue residue, use the mirror trick. Take a hand held mirror and slide the glued area of the wig on it–the glue will rub off onto the mirror.
Following the above steps on how to remove a human hair wig will help prevent tearing the laces, damaging the baby hair, and extending the lifespan of the wig ultimately.
